Introducing our new Adore Shopping Site
I’d like to introduce you all to Adore Shopping – an innovative new website where you can search for products from brands featured in Adore magazine and blog.
Adore Shopping is designed to make you feel like you’re all on a personal shopping trip with me, (the editor of Adore Home Magazine). All of my favourite brands and online stores are under the one roof with Adore Shopping. Say for example, you’re on the hunt for a new bedside table, you would normally trawl through a number of online stores. But what happens when you can only think of a couple of places to search, you could be missing out on finding your perfect bedside table, simply because you weren’t searching in all the right places. This is where our site comes in handy. Use it as a one-stop shopping platform to find what you’re looking for, and compare products among other websites. Just use the search engine on the home page to find thousands of beautiful homewares and furniture.
You can rest assured that all brands on our site are ones that we would regularly feature in our magazine and blog. Shops like West Elm, Designstuff, Life Interiors, Castle, Kip & Co and Urban Couture (just to name a few) will all be at your fingertips. Click here to try it out for yourself.
Store Profile: Hass & Co Botanics
You don’t need a green thumb to create a stylish indoor garden, thanks to Perth-based Hass & Co.
Words Beth Greshwalk
Nothing breathes life into an abode like a lush indoor garden. But finding the best plants and ‘plantwares’ to complement our interiors – not to mention the all-important greenery upkeep – can feel a bit daunting. So, it’s always refreshing to discover retailers like Hass & Co. Botanics, Perth’s divine destination for houseplants, accessories and personalised plant selection and styling guidance.
Hass & Co. was founded in 2017 by Cal Hassall and Casey O’Callahan, proud owners of an indoor garden who’d been yearning for more botanical décor choices than Perth had to offer. Harnessing Casey’s passion for nature and the couple’s shared retail experience, “we decided to put our backgrounds to good use, with the goal of making (plantware) options more accessible,” explains Casey.
After opening their eye-catching boutique on Leederville’s equally vibrant Oxford Street, the pair soon realised their customers were not only seekers of quality Australian accessories unseen at larger department stores, but also those without green thumbs requiring easy-care foliage for their indoor gardens.
The solution?
“We carefully hand-select hardy tropical varieties of plants, because their preferred environment is easy to replicate at home,” says Casey. “We select ‘shade-grown’ plants, meaning they’re already seasoned to be grown in an indoor environment.”
The most popular of such low-maintenance plants include the versatile devil’s ivy – “Grow it long and let it trail down, or take a cutting and grow it in water,” recommends Casey – along with calathea varieties like the pink-striped ornata: “These beauties love warmth and humidity. A bathroom with natural light is the perfect location.”
As for the store’s selection of homegrown and international plantwares, clientele are loving locally made, steel plant hangers and stands by Still Life: “Their ladder stand is a personal favourite,” adds Casey. Other bestsellers include moss balls created by Perth-based Leaf & Moss.
And when it comes to styling stimuli, look no further than Hass & Co. displays. “They’re refreshed regularly, showcasing different ways to play with colour and texture to achieve an overall look,” says Casey. “We encourage customers to mix and match products until they find a combination that gets them excited.”
Visit Hass & Co Botanics at Suite 3a/250 Oxford St, Leederville, Perth WA.

The Beach Club by Sarah Ellison

Top Finds: Sideboards
Sideboards are a great storage option for dining or living rooms, even bedrooms. We’ve rounded up our favourite styles in timber, metal and black.
1 TIMBER
Timber sideboards can work super well in a whole host of different decorating types – it’s all about selecting the right shape, and timber stain for your individual style. A versatile style that would work well in contemporary, Scandi or coastal homes is Life Interiors’ Koto sideboard pictured above. Its clean lines and solid American white Oak finish has the big tick of approval from Adore. Plus it’s under $1000, so it’s well-priced.
Looking for something a little more unusual with a Scandi-influence? Harto’s Cesar sideboard from Clickon Furniture
(pictured at the top of blog post) is a mighty fine contender. This would make a real statement piece in a dining or living room!
More options below.
2 METAL
Metal sideboards give a contemporary-meets-industrial flavour and are also highly durable. Pictured above is Muuto’s Enfold sideboard from Designstuff. Made from a lacquered steel that gently enfolds the top and bottom in solid oak, this sideboard fuses cold and warm materials for the perfect balanced look.
Life Interiors have also released a new Dawn range featuring cabinets, sideboards, entertainment units, and bedside drawers. This Dawn sideboard pictured opposite would be a practical storage solution in both living and dining rooms. I love the perforated metal screen on it.
3 LUXE BLACK
There’s something quite luxurious and sophisticated about these two black sideboards – perhaps its also the fact that they both have brass detailing. The Brighton buffet from Coco Republic pictured above has a clean, streamlined design and the natural timber detail in black is so sexy!
There’s also the Audrey buffet from West Elm pictured below. The honeycomb pattern on the doors give a nice texture.
Kara Rosenlund Goes Extra Large
Australian freelance travel photographer and author, Kara Rosenlund, has released a new extra large size in her photographic prints range. Oversized has never looked so good.
Photography + styling: Kara Rosenlund
I’ve long been a fan of Kara’s work – in fact one of her beautiful Bondi Beach photographs graces my dining room. I can attest to the quality of her prints, the colours so vibrant, and the clarity - so crisp.
The new Extra Large print size is an effortless way to create an atmosphere of understated luxury. In my opinion, when it comes to art, the bigger the better – especially if you have high ceilings. Art always feels more generous when it’s larger in scale.
Adds Kara: “When you scale up a photograph to these proportions there is nowhere to hide and I’m proud that my work holds its integrity and quality at this extra large size.”

FOUR AUSTRALIAN TRENDS TO EMBRACE
We’ve looked to OZ Design’s latest campaign for four hot Australian trends to embrace this winter.
1 TIMBER ACCENTS
A touch of timber in the home is a great way to warm up a space. Whether it’s a solid piece of furniture – like this beautiful Violet buffet, or just a touch of timber – like in the legs of this Atticus sofa (both pictured above), it can really inject a natural touch to a space. The key to getting this look right? Don’t overdo it. So for example if you opt for a timber dining table, don’t pair it with matching timber chairs - offset it with a contrasting colour/material to prevent it looking too matchy-matchy.
2 FLORALS AND VELVET
There’s something quite romantic about floral prints – they’re a massive trend at the moment. And do you know the perfect accompaniment to florals? Velvet. The look is oh so chic. And velvet also has a really soft feel to it. In winter, it’s so nice to be surrounded with lots of soft, cosy textures so be sure to add a touch of velvet to your home this winter.
3 NATIVE FLORA PRINTS
Aussie flora and fauna art prints art big right now in interiors – and we just love these ones pictured, available from OZ Design. In particular photographic prints with colours of pink and green are so popular, we just can’t get enough of those pretty pink tones. Our hot tip – pair one of these prints in a front entry with a blush pink door (like above) – dreamy!
4 COASTAL BOHO
It’s not hard to see why so many Australians love coastal, boho and Hamptons styles. It totally suits our climate and our relaxed way of life. This look works well with lots of white, and a splash of natural elements like jute and cane. If you can’t go a white sofa, opt for soft neutral tones like this Ashton sofa. This look will never date, and is in, no matter what the season.
Magazine Stocktake Sale
We’ve got a massive stocktake sale on right now – all back issues are down to just $6! Be quick, quantities are running low and once they’re gone – they’re gone for good! Click here to shop.
